A methodical approach that offers a reasonable chance of success consists of three main phases.

01.

Here You Can Learn More About The Rich European History And Culture.

Only 100 Europeans will make the final List. Some others could’ve and most won’t. Aspiring to draft a List that does justice to our goal requires: a methodical approach that is reasonable, b) the help of others, and c) the courage to make judgments on certain aspects that inevitably draws, but is capable to face, criticism. Constructive criticism sparks discussion and discussion is a means to get closer to the joint appreciation of European culture and history.

History serves as a valuable teacher.

All those involved in the Project confirm to understand, respect and apply these tenets and seek clarification in case of questions.
In the spirit of this Project this important step is to be taken jointly, leveraging the collective intelligence of our community. This requires accepting a set of core tenets: an end goal, a starting point, a joint position, a basic perspective and a commonly understood language.

1 : End goal

We want to advance the European cultural spirit and inspire people to learn more about Europe’s history and culture by listing 100 Europeans whose lives, ideas or achievements left an unmistakable positive imprint on the world today.

2 : Joint position

This Project is a not-for-profit, non-political, humanist endeavour founded on the values of respect for human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law, and respect for human rights, including the rights of persons belonging to minorities.

3 : Basic perspective

During our Project we take today’s perspective on things, not what they may have been before or may become later.

4 : Starting point

This Project offers a platform, an approach and suggestions for parameters and rules how to get to the end goal together.

5 : Commonly understood language

For this Project we use and communicate in English and respect and apply the duties of academic free speech in all our interactions.
